Escape

Day three the escape from the heat of the city.
I was expiring quickly from the heat of Athens, I jumped on the green line and it took me to the Port of Piraeus practically holding my breath. Bought the ferry ticket and I was whisked away by the mighty ferry and it took me to Aegina the closest one day trip and desperately looking for something to like in Greece I had to see at least one island. And a very relaxed 1.15 min later we arrived at the sandy beaches with pristine waters, a smile over took my expression and my camera came out ready for our adventure.
So I could not just lay around all day and  it was the middle of the day and I just can’t lay in the sun I might just get a tan and that would just ruin my whole look!!! so anyways hopped on a bus to the ruins of Aphaia ,, the bus driver kept doing a high pitched whistle every time a car would drive by ,,, huh ,, we thought is he doing that with his mouth,, no way we thought,,, anyways I got to the top jumped out and walked to the pillars, the air was a crisp 95 degrees and about 35 percent humidity in the sun on top a mountain very REFRESHING I must say.

I found nestled in the corner a tiny little museum, and found out the next bus is 15min or 3 hours so I walked quickly to the bus stop and chatted with the lovely ticket man. Well I got the same bus driver this time I sat in front so I could figure out this mysteries whistle sound,, he was so Sly doing it and then I just stared at him,, "I know a little uncomfortable but somebody had to do it," at last I saw his hand was on a bar on the left and he must have a tiny little itsy bitsy button because every time a cute girl or a fellow islander went by he would press that darn button,,

OK enough back to the beaches,,, I jumped out and there were no changing rooms so I finagled in to my swim suit gingerly outside in the open " this is quite a talent for no one to notice mind you" the water was crisp but once you submerged yourself it was blissful, then I walked down to a restaurant right on the water " literally  the chair legs were in the water" I have a picture to prove it.

I ate the best calamari in the world, went swimming again, and at 7pm I decided to come to the real conclusion that the hotel is already paid for in Athens I must leave this day of rescue from the sun & heat,

Im Here!!

Ok I’m here! I’m in Athens, the great ancient city of the mythological gods, the history, the Spartans, were the marathons started, so much amazing history right!! and just as I’m getting out of the bus and there it is!!! hot sweltering simmering sweating blistering uncomfortable traffic induced smog congested heat. And then I remember I hate Greece.!!!!
So I get my bag and walk to the hotel and lay down trying to figure out the remote for the air-conditioner, and needing water, wanting to put my feet up because I think they are already getting swollen, and thinking I can’t believe that I want to get on a bus already for another 12 hours, and be ok with it.
Day two of this weekend of effortlessly losing weight by walking slowly under sun that is a mere 2 feet above my head to the museums and at this point looking good was a idea of such a laughable concept that I just stopped thinking about it.

Two months in!

Two months of living in Sofia was great, I saw the spring come with the shedding of the pollen trees with these beautify white dandelion puffs flying everywhere and it looking like a fairy tale and seeing below my flat balcony the gypsy’s in there horse & carriages, and impressing  myself with getting around this foreign city so smoothly and effortlessly.
And eating there wonderful cuisine and going to the center for a outdoor movie every Friday night, drinking a beer and watching the football games on the 50 foot tall outdoor theater every night in the summer air just watching the people walk by and seeing all the new fashion and being scared half the time knowing this will soon be in America.
So the time came to visit Athens Greece for a weekend I was not looking forward since I have been there before and I remembered the awful heat. But I got on a bus and started my.

Was this the best way of transportation no but when traveling I really like to stretch out the money since it has a ability to disappear like a dress on prom night!!!  What!!! Any ways Bulgaria is a very beautiful county and then there was Greece a dry desert country with a lot of road work signs and half built houses. And where are all the olive trees anyways?

So after a month!

So after a month of selling and departing from thing that I thought I had a bonded with I realized I was much happier without all the stuff and things and I was ready to leave and go forward with a back pack and a ticket and of course a ATM.
Arriving in Sofia Bulgaria was a great feeling of course landing from any 18 hour flight is a great feeling but the fact that accomplishing something at least one step of the way was good the air smelled different the energy was strange and the language was just so far from my understanding it was funny and overwhelming at the same time but getting to the apartment and being whisked through the city by taxi and seeing out my window all the habits and activity’s of the locals was so wanted I needed in such a big way to be overwhelmed and taken back and really having to focus of everything, I was so sick of knowing everything and seeing the same thing saying the same thing day in and day out it was a pleasure to dive in and embrace the exotic culture shock of Bulgaria.

ticket day

I bought my ticket, just after I hit the enter key my eyes got bigger my mind wondered then I breathed and smiled and thought wow this is happening!
